Year 5 and 6 2019 - 2020

Miss Bennett

Welcome to Year 5 and 6, I have been teaching at St Joseph's for 10 years now and as well as leading Key Stage 2 I have responsibility for Mathematics, Assessment and Behaviour in school, all of which I am very passionate about. I am looking forward to the upcoming year and all the exciting experiences that our children will be involved in.

Outside of school I love reading anything and will happily spend a whole weekend sat on the couch with a hot cup of tea and a book.

As well as teaching Year 5/6, I am responsible for science and the RE curriculum. Being at St Joseph's also affords me ample opportunities to get involved with two of my other passions - music and sport. I especially enjoy running the choir which seems to reach new heights every year! I am looking forward to the challenge of a new year group and seeing what the new school year brings.

Away from St Joseph's, I have taught in schools in Huyton and Northern Ireland, although contrary to popular opinion I wasn't born there! I am a proud Widnesian and demonstrate this by passionately following the Widnes Vikings Rugby League team at every possible opportunity. When I'm not working, I love spending time with my family, especially my two children who certainly keep me on my toes!

I feel really lucky to be part of the St Joseph's School community and especially being involved in the learning, fun and excitement that each day brings.

Miss Whitehead

I am looking forward to returning to St Joseph’s to start my journey as a newly qualified teacher, after thoroughly enjoying my time here whilst training. I’m very excited to become part of the St Joseph's team.
I enjoy working in upper KS2 and can’t wait to welcome my class ready for the start of an exciting year. I am enthusiastic about outdoor learning and will be planning opportunities for this to support and extend children’s learning in class, which I hope they will enjoy.

Outside of school you will often see me spending time with my family. However, when I’m not busy doing that, I find there is nothing better than relaxing with a good book. A passion I hope to share with my class through lots of class reading and other activities.

Welcome to Year 5 and 6!

We are all excited about the year ahead. The Year 5 and 6 teachers have planned lots of exciting opportunities to learn outside of the classroom, including an increased number of Forest School sessions and interesting trips.

The topics that we have planned this year are going to be very exciting and will provide plenty opportunities for us to be creative. For more curriculum information, keep coming back to the website and you can read our posts on Twitter. If you are able to help with any aspect of our learning please speak to the class teacher.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Year 5 and 6 team or email the main office.
