Anderton Boat Lift

Date: 28th Jun 2019 @ 1:09pm

On Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th June Year 5 and 6 visited the Anderton Boat Lift. During the day, the children took part in a workshop about rivers and had a boat ride along the river and on the Anderton Boat Lift. The children learnt about the history of the lift, including why the lift was invented and how it has changed over the years.  Whilst on the river trip children enjoyed watching for wildlife and spotting some of the buildings they recognised from Northwich such as the cinema and ASDA. As part of the workshop, children explored how rivers are formed and discussed why rivers are useful. Children also learnt the main difference between a river and a canal.

Staff who took the children on the trip were impressed with their behaviour. They were all great ambassadors for St Joseph’s! We have had many positive comments from members of the public, including messages directly to school after the trips, regarding children’s manners and enthusiasm.
