Modern Foreign Languages

"A different language is a different vision of life."

There are many advantages of children learning a foreign language. Most importantly, it is a wonderful opportunity for children to broaden their view of the world as well as providing them with a deeper understanding and respect for other cultures, people, their ideas and ways of thinking. Learning a language can also increase a child's self-confidence, self-esteem, resilience and tolerance and can provide them with fantastic opportunties in an increasingly globalised market.

We are proud to offer our KS2 children yearly residential trips to Rue, France where children can learn the language and culture with first-hand experiences - it is an opportunitity that many of our children look forward to!

"Best school trip ever!!"

To find out about our upcoming 2027 France trip, please email admin@stjosephs.cheshire.sch.uk for more information.

Mnay of our teaching staff have travelled to France as part of our Erasmus+ scheme; Miss Howard, Mrs Gum, Miss L Bennett, Miss Raymond and Mrs Divito. This has been a fantastic opportunity for staff to engage in their professional development and to ensure that aspects of the culture and language is embedded in our curriculum, here at St Joseph's.

If you would like to find out more about how French is taught at St Joseph's, please refer to our MFL policy.
